The story of the name

Pest, 19th century

A coffee house of legend

The Pilvax was the coffee house of Pest's writers, students and dreamers — where newspapers were read, debates ran hot and lifelong friendships began.

15 March 1848

A revolution began at its tables

On the morning of 15 March 1848, the young radicals gathered at the Pilvax set out from here towards the printing press — and into history. Ever since, the café has stood for freedom and friendship.

Brașov, today

The same name, the same welcome

Our restaurant takes its name from the celebrated Budapest coffee house, which has welcomed its guests with the same devoted attention ever since. On Michael Weiss Street we carry it on — at the table, over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee.

Grandmother's recipes, real paprika

Our cuisine is exclusively Hungarian and Transylvanian. Goulash is a must, in its many forms — but so are the fish soup, our savoury beef tenderloin and grandmother's Sunday soup. And for dessert, plum dumplings or Somlói galuska, which remind us of our childhood.
